Omaha Hi-Low: General Overview

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is often times seen as one of the most difficult but well-loved poker variations. It’s a variation that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites action from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure variation, has grown in acceptance so rapidly.
Omaha/8 starts exactly like a normal game of Omaha. 4 cards are given out to each player. A round of wagering follows where players can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are dealt out, this is called the flop. Another round of betting happens. After all the players have either called or folded, an additional card is revealed on the turn. a further sequence of betting ensues and then the river card is flipped. The gamblers must attempt to put together the best high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is where a few entrants get flustered. Contrasted to Holdem, in which the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi low the player has to utilize precisely three cards from the board, and precisely two hole cards. Not a single card more, no less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot may be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."
A high hand is just how it sounds. It’s the best hand out of every player’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house, etc. It is the very same approach in almost every poker game.
A low hand is more difficult, but really free’s up the action. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. A low hand is the worst hand that might be put together, with the lowest being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The lower hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and smaller. The low hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there is no lower hand available, the high hand takes the whole pot.
While it seems complex at the start, after a couple of hands you will be able to pick up on the fundamental nuances of the game with ease. Seeing as you have people betting for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as such a large number of cards are being used at once, Omaha 8 or better offers an exciting range of betting possibilities and owing to the fact that you have several individuals shooting for the high hand, along with several trying for the low hand. If you like a game with all kinds of outs and actions, it’s not a waste of your time to participate in Omaha 8 or better.
